A Morning Tea Latte to Begin With — Nourish: April
Earl Grey Coconut Milk Latte
Nourishment doesn’t have to be complicated.
It can be as simple as a warm cup in your hands. A quiet moment before the day begins. The small, deliberate choice to make something that feels good rather than just efficient.
This month’s Nourish is not a complicated recipe. It’s not a meal plan or a nutritional breakdown. It’s a morning ritual — one that takes about five minutes, asks almost nothing of you, and somehow makes the whole morning feel more like yours.
Why a tea latte
I started making this during a stretch of mornings that felt relentless — the kind where you’re up before you’re ready, moving before you’ve arrived. I wanted something warm and grounding that wasn’t coffee (I still haven’t mastered making a good coffee from our machine yet) and wasn’t just plain tea (which, on tired mornings, can feel a little joyless).
A tea latte is the middle way. Creamy and warming, with just enough sweetness to feel like a small gift to yourself. I’ve been making variations of this for months. The version below is the one I keep coming back to.
Ingredients
- 1 bag of your favorite tea (chai or Earl Grey work beautifully — something with warmth
- 200ml oat milk, or whatever milk you love
- 1 tsp honey, or to taste
- a pinch of cinnamon, optional
- hot water
Method
- 1 Brew your tea bag in a small amount of hot water (about 60ml) for 3–4 minutes. You want it strong — you’ll be adding milk and it dilutes quickly.
- 2 While the tea steeps, warm your oat milk in a small saucepan over low heat, or in the microwave for about 60 seconds. You’re warming it, not boiling it.
- 3 If you have a small frother, froth the milk until it’s foamy. A vigorous shake in a jar with a lid works surprisingly well if you don’t.
- 4 Remove the tea bag and pour the brewed tea into your favorite mug. Add honey and stir.
- 5 Pour the warm milk over the tea, spoon the foam on top, and finish with a pinch of cinnamon if you like.
Britt's note
I started making this during a stretch of relentless mornings. The latte takes five minutes — the pause is up to you. I’ve started treating the time it takes to make this as a small ceremony: no phone, no planning, just the sound of milk warming and the particular quality of morning light that I’m slowly learning to notice.

Most people hydrate out of habit — the same water, the same glass, the same time of day. This pitcher is a small invitation to do something slightly different. Peach, ginger, and orange don't obviously belong together, but they work beautifully — sweet, a little sharp, with just enough warmth from the ginger to make it interesting. Ten minutes of prep, and hydration that actually feels like a treat.
