Grounded Authority Breath
For before a hard conversation, a presentation, or any moment where you need to lead from a steady place

The most effective leaders don't lead from the front of their nervous system — they lead from the center. This practice helps you find that center before you walk into a room.
Before you begin: Find a quiet moment — in your car, outside the door, at your desk. You need about 5 minutes before the conversation or presentation begins. Not after you're already in the room.

The practice
Grounded authority breath
This practice works by moving you from reactive arousal — where your nervous system is braced for threat — into grounded readiness, where you can actually think, listen, and lead. The sequence moves from release to expansion to resonance, building a felt sense of authority from the inside out.
-
Slow down first
Before any activating breath: 3 slow exhales, longer than your inhales. Drop your shoulders. You don't need to perform readiness. You need to be ready.
-
Belly breath of rootedness
Full belly breath — let your abdomen expand completely. This anchors you in your body, not your head. Do 4 rounds.
-
Vocal resonance
Hum on your exhale. Feel the vibration in your chest. This activates your vagus nerve and communicates calm to your entire system.
-
Name your value
On a slow inhale, finish this sentence: 'I am here to...' Not 'I need to impress' or 'I hope they like me.' Why are you actually there? Breathe that purpose in.
-
Enter from stillness
One complete breath. Then walk in. The stillness comes with you.
When else to use this: This one also works after a hard meeting when you need to decompress, or any time you've been performing for others and need to find yourself again.
Leadership is not about having all the answers. It's about being present enough to find them together.
Pay attention to what you feel.
Come back to what matters.
Bloom in your own season.
A deep breath in a beautiful life.
Talk soon.
